Passion back in Manila

Posted by admin on April 3, 2010

Chris Tomlin, Louie Giglio, and Kristian Stanfill are bringing the Passion World Tour back to Manila. “Passion believes in university students and in the “university moment,” that window of life where many young people forge their identity and set the trajectory of their lives, and they believe these students are uniquely poised to shape the future and help achieve a more hopeful outcome for humanity.” Manila is only one of seven stops for this world tour, along with Kyiv, London, São Paulo, Vancouver, Tokyo and Hong Kong.

PASSION MANILA takes place on May 25 (Tuesday) at the Araneta Coliseum. The concert starts at 7:30pm – the organizers promise it will start on time – and tickets setll for only Php200. With Patron and Lower Box tickets sold out, interested parties may buy tickets to Upper Box A by calling 910-5524 or 9105352; Upper Box B and General Admission tickets may be bought from TicketNet outlets or calling 911-5555.

I’m not allowed to attend – the event is exclusively for university students aged 16 to 25 – but if you skew older than that, you can volunteer for the event at the Passion World Tour website or visit Becca Music.

Redeem The Airwaves 4.0

Posted by admin on April 22, 2009

Redeem The Airwaves, now on its fourth year, is a media conference that taps the effective potential of various types of traditional and digital media for Jesus Christ. It’s an ideal starting block and stepping stone for Christians and their communities that would like to use social media networking to their best advantage. If it’s your goal to honor God and make disciples and use new media to help bring you there, Redeem The Airwaves 4.0 is one conference you cannot afford to miss.

This year’s theme is “Cut Through The Noise.” We may be a smaller global community thanks to the advent of the Internet, but there is still much work to be done in terms of rising above the barrage of television, radio, print, nontraditional media, and the Internet. How does one make himself visible and audible above the roar of countless websites, creative commercials, and increasingly ubiquitous advertising? Where does one begin in terms of concentrating his efforts to fully maximize his time and marketing buck?

We all have something to say. How do you get yourself heard?

Visit the official website of Redeem The Airwaves 4.0 and learn more about the topics up for discussion. Among them are:

  • The Art of Storytelling
  • Writing For Radio
  • Storyboarding
  • Basic Song Composition and Recording
  • The Power of Voice Guerrilla Video
  • Maximizing New Media

Note: We cannot stress the importance of maximizing new media and harnessing the power of the Internet to your best advantage. You may notice, for instance, that when you Google “Filipino Christian Blog,” FilipinoChristianBlog.gannsdeen.com comes first. There are reasons why our website is ranked highest for that particular search phrase; there are things you can do to ensure that people find you when they search for you. Ganns will be at the conference on Saturday to discuss how Christians can take their online presence to the next level, using a potent mix of blogging, microblogging, and social media networking. Don’t miss it!

CONFERENCE FEES:

Redeem The Airwaves 4.0 will be held at the Union Church of Manila, located at the corner of Rada and Legaspi Streets in Legaspi Village, Makati. (It’s a casual ten-minute walk from Greenbelt, if you’re a slow walker. If you’re fast, you’ll probably get there in five minutes.)

Kari Jobe CD to be available here!

Posted by admin on March 12, 2009

WOOT! Well, I’m excited!

New Integrity Music/Gateway Create artist Kari Jobe will have her debut CD available locally via House of Praise! Yea!

Kari’s self-titled debut CD sold more than 11,552 units in its first week of sales, according to Nielsen SoundScan, making her CD the highest Christian and gospel music debut by a new artist since Mandisa’s first CD release in 2007. (Hello, HoP, why not make Mandisa available here too?)

The debut CD is earning its share of critical success alongside record sales.  Says CCMMagazine.com, “With the powerhouse nuances of Natalie Grant and the singer/songwriter vulnerability of Mindy Smith, new Integrity worship artist Kari Jobe is more than a fresh face and pretty voice…With producer Ed Cash’s (Chris Tomlin, Bethany Dillon) competent hands at the creative controls, Jobe’s self-titled debut seeks to establish her as more than just a worship leader, but also as a fully-equipped artist.”

“I’m Singing,” the first single from Kari Jobe, is also making its way across the US on Christian radio.  Written by Jobe, Cash and Tomlin, “I’m Singing” is now “new and active on the AC chart.”

Locally, Jobe’s probably best known for “Revelation Song,” which she recorded with Christ For The Nations Institute.

Yay, House of Praise! You guys rock!
